Luxury House - The Clifton Hill House

The Clifton Hill House is a house with two parts; the original in its Art Deco architecture and the new additional part houses living area. The two parts are separated by a courtyard and linked by a corridor. The new part of the house is designed as the façade facing the rear street. It is designed by Sharif Abraham Architects to be a series of dynamic volumes functioned to capture the natural light and sculptural form for the future garden.

The concept of the house interior is black and white; curved black veneer punctuates vertically and white walls horizontally. A timber pillar across the curves is made from a trunk; something that brings natural sense into the interior of the house. Meanwhile, the exterior of the house is quite contrarily designed. Aluminum sections are applied on the edges; creating lighter sense on the tectonic sign. Some steel windows are applied in line so that it looks to be drawn rather than penetrating the house walls.

The original and new parts of the house are linked by a corridor with continuous florescent beam. There are two new bathrooms in the living area; one is finished with black tiles and another one is finished in bronze tiles. The second bathroom is connected to the courtyard of the house and the tiles are quite sensitive to the sunlight changing. When the door is closed, the new part looks like independent and becomes more private area in the house. via
